I love the saying on this image.
I started dancing over 5 years ago and I am constantly amazed at what my body is capable of and how far I have come in that time span. While I'd like to think that I have a fairly realistic understanding of what I can and cannot do (like the fact that I'll never go on pointe, for example), I'd also like to hope that I would never hold myself back by something as simple as the word "can't."
Oh, wait, I have an image for that!
So I guess I need to start working on my double pirouette.

Yes. A person can't be great at everything, that would be silly, but I think it's a crime to rob yourself of trying something just because it's new and/or difficult. Everything you're good at now used to be new and difficult. You may not be stellar at your double pirouette (or you may rock the shit out of it), but you gotta try...right...?
ReplyDelete(I may be shit at writing a full-on "novel," but I gotta try. Shit or get off the pot, y'know? Plus, on that note, how do you actually know until you try? Better to fail and KNOW that you fail, so that you can move on, than to keep taking up the mental space with "what if.")
I BLATHERED.
